Dreaming of Guns, Knives, and Swords
Guns and knives are weapons. Weapons can be used for good or bad. We can use them to defend ourselves or attack an enemy or an innocent person. As always, context is the key to a correct interpretation, but usually, guns and knives speak of harmful words that hurt and even destroy people.

Guns that harm others represent us “shooting off at the mouth” and inflicting injury to someone with our hurtful words or “taking shots at someone.” Guns carry a lot of power, and so does our mouth. God says that the power of death and life are in the tongue. The saying, “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me,” is an absolute lie and goes against what God says.

Ammunition would speak of what you know about a person you use against them, as in the saying, “I’ve been keeping track of all the time he’s been late to work, and now I have a lot of ammunition against him.”

The type of gun may also give you further insight into the issues or the amount of power. For instance, a nine-millimeter may speak of judging someone else because one of the things the number 9 can represent is judgment. The number 9 can also mean finality, so perhaps someone is attempting to end a relationship, situation, etc. The larger the gun is, the greater the magnitude of the ability to hurt someone. If it is an automatic weapon, perhaps it reveals someone who “automatically” shoots off at the mouth without thinking first.

Knives are sharp instruments. Our words can be very sharp and pointed at times. Also, to hurt someone with a knife, you have to be close to them, and that may reveal you’ve hurt someone close to you or vice versa.

A sword may represent the word of God according to Ephesians 6:17 – “17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” This may reveal the word of God convicting you or someone else and revealing motives. Context ALWAYS rules the interpretation, so consider the action that is happening. Is someone getting hurt? Perhaps it’s a verbal attack with hurtful words.
