Water comes in many forms and sizes. In God’s Word, water represents many things; The Holy Spirit; Justice
or judgment (Amos 5:24); Wrath (Hosea 5:10); Strong feelings (Job 3:24); and Affliction (1Kings 22:27). Jesus
is also referred to as a fountain of living water.
Water can also represent purification if being cleansed by it, or refreshing if drinking a cold glass of water
or taking a refreshing swim. If you’re drowning, it represents feeling overwhelmed or “in over your head”.
Are you in deep water? Maybe that means you are diving into the deep things of the spirit. Proverbs
18:4 also reveals that “The words of a man’s mouth are deep water;” Are you in hot water? Is that a word-play
for being in trouble or does it feel positive, like a hot tub and it represents you are “soaking” in God’s presence
and you are passionate for God…not lukewarm or cold.
God’s Word literally has hundreds of mentions of water in various types. You want to ALWAYS go to God’s
ancient scrolls to try to understand what the interpretation for any symbol may be.
What type of water is it and what are the characteristics? Is it a lake, pool, puddle, stream, ocean,
river, etc? Is it clear, deep, murky, shallow, flowing, stagnant, etc.? What could that be saying to
you?
Because water many times represents things of the spirit, bodies of water can represent churches, moves of God,
deep things of God, etc. Refer to the dream dictionary for specific interpretation of different types of
water.
