There are many types of dreams and visions. While God’s Word does not label them precisely, it does reveal the purposes behind many dreams. While there may be many more specific categories available, we have personally found that all the dreams we’ve encountered have fallen into one of these categories. Remember, they are just descriptions helping you to understand why you were given a dream.

• Destiny Dreams/Visions
  These dreams/visions come from God and they reveal His plans for your life and the very purpose you were created for. These dreams/visions are very vivid and bright and leave you with an enormous amount of hope.
• Encouragement Dreams/Visions
  Encouragement dreams give us the courage to continue. Many times we’re not sure we’ve done the right thing or we’re not sure if we’re headed in the right direction because it gets so difficult. These dreams encourage us of the things we’ve done right, the difference we’re making, and the good things that are ahead so we can find the strength to continue.
• Healing & Comfort Dreams/Visions
  God gives many dreams & visions to bring emotional healing, closure, comfort, & assurance.  Many people have even received a literal physical healing in dreams.
• Instruction & Direction Dreams/Visions
  These dreams are given to help us know what to do about specific situations in our life. They help us make the right choices.
• Invention Dreams/Visions
  Many people throughout history have received inventions, songs, movies, books, and more through these types of dreams & visions. Some people have received these types of dreams & visions and have neglected to follow-up on them and have missed out on all that God wanted for them.
• Lucid Dreams
  Lucid dreams are when you realize while you are in the dream that you are dreaming.  This reveals a heightened spiritual awareness and ability in the spiritual realm. Lucid dreams can also allow you to change the outcome of something in real life if you change it in the dream.  Remember, the spirit realm is more real than the natural and the natural is simply a manifestation of the spiritual realm – therefore, if we change things in the spiritual realm, we can often change the outcome in the natural.  A word of caution - don’t confuse operating in the spiritual realm with operating out of your soul – where you cause things to happen out of your own will and selfish desires. That type of manipulation is dangerous and many time irreversible. 
• Prophetic Dreams/Visions
  Prophetic dreams & visions are given to foretell things about the future. God is revealing secrets to you so you can pray about it and know what is to come.
• Sealed Dreams
  We often remember having dreams, but don’t remember the details of the dreams.  God’s Word reveals that He seals instruction in man’s heart while he sleeps. Many times God is intentionally sealing our instruction.  It may be for a later time and we will be reminded of it then, or it may stay at the subconscious level where our spirit has constant access and even though our mind doesn’t realize what’s been sealed, our spirit knows.
• Self Condition Dreams
  These dreams can many times come from our soul and they simply reveal the things our soul is dealing with. They reveal our emotions, fears, struggles, etc. Self condition dreams can be tricky to interpret because many times we will dream how we “feel” and not what is true or actual. 
• Spiritual Encounter Dreams/Visions
  Sometimes we have dreams & visions that feel as though we’ve actually had an experience or really went somewhere else. Ancient scrolls reveal that many dreams were actual encounters and we believe that many dreams and visions are actual spiritual encounters and that your spirit has actually had a very real experience in the spiritual realm.
• Warning & Protection Dreams/Visions
  God gives warning dreams to keep us from making the wrong decisions and to keep us from pride. These dreams are not only meant to protect us from missing God’s plan for our life, but also to warn us of the plans the enemy of your soul has for you so you can recognize it and avoid it.
• Word of Knowledge Dreams/Visions
  Sometimes we can encounter a dilemma in life that requires more information. This can be information we need about a person or a situation. These dreams will give us the information we need for the circumstance and the purpose God has.
